Tranquillity Fishing Brittany

Tranquillity Fishing Brittany is a family run business.
We offer Carp, Perch, Bream, Tench, Pike, Rudd and Roach in our spring-fed lake and over the winter we have introduced some new stock of Carp, Bream and Tench.
Our extensive website holds the key to some of the best fishing in France incorporating a venue for both the discerning bivvy carp angler and for those who wish for more comfort in our newly renovated accommodation.
Matched with superb stocks to rival similar venues what more does the angler want?
We would also like to offer our facilities for family groups of up to 6 people who would like to try their hand at fishing with expert advice available.

More Local Fishing Info.

Guemene-sur-Scorff is situated at the heart of an angler’s paradise. Opportunities to fish a variety of rivers, streams and stillwater public lakes as well as privately owned lakes is innumerable. You can choose from small and intimate venues to vast and remote with a choice of almost every species that swims!!
I moved to this area just over a year ago having been a fisherman most of my life – boy and man. To enjoy the enormous choice of fishing venues is a fisherman’s paradise.
In this part of Brittany, we are spoilt for choice with an array of excellent rivers that sport trout and salmon. Fly-fishing is a very popular activity on the River Scorff especially along the D110 where the road travels alongside the river past Pont Callec following the Scorff Valley down towards Plouay. I have fished at Coet Cren by the Moulin several times. Further along the Scorff at Pont Scorff I have seen salmon in the river and a path follows the river heading south where there are some excellent fishing spots. Alternatively the River Elle which is west of the D769 (Le Fauoet to Lancester) has some great boulders to cast from especially near Les Rochers du Diable. Take the D6 from Meslan crossing the D769 and head for Locunole.

I understand the River Blavet has excellent fishing with trout, salmon, gardon, bream, perch and of course carp but I have yet to try this river out for myself.
If you favour carp and coarse fishing, there are a plethora of public lakes and I will mention a few of which I have either personally fished or know of others who have fished them.
Etang du Bel-Air, Priziac – This venue is approx. 8-10 acres of water with excellent fishing swims on the east and west sides. I have been several times and have caught bream between 4-6 lb and carp up to 16 lb. I spoke to a Frenchman recently who was bivvying for a week and he had caught some large carp up to 35 lb (16 kg). There is no shelter from the elements and I have been caught out twice now in very heavy downpours!!
Chateau de Menehouarn, Plouay – An excellent lake in the grounds of the Chateau at Plouay this venue has bream up to 8 lb (I have caught several here) and large carp. The largest carp I caught was my p.b. 36 lb 6 oz!! and I am very proud of it. One of the young friends who I was with also caught the same fish and caught several around 16 – 18 lb. This particular large carp has a scar on its head, presumably from a cormorant or heron, which is easily recognisable should anyone catch it. Night fishing is not allowed here but I have been able to stay up to 10.30 p.m. but be warned a bailiff checks up on fishing permits (see details on Fishing Permits further down the page).
Etang, Guern – A small water, approximately 2 acres. I have fished here a number of times and although there are reported to be carp, I have never seen any. I have caught small bream 2-4 lb and small trout but my best catch was a 6 lb tench. It was beautiful in colour, very dark and not a mark on it. This lake is on the main road D1 heading towards Guern from the Guemene-sur-Scorff/Pontivy road D782. There are also perch, rudd and roach in this water.
Etang, Pont Samouel – This lake is about 2 acres and requires a day ticket (4 euros at present) from the café on the side of the lake. I have not fished here but understand that there are several carp. Worth a try – take the D18 east of Guemene-sur-Scorff and after Locmalo, take a small left turn for Silfiac. After about 3 km take a righthand turn signposted for the lake.
Etang du Dordu, Langoelan – At the present time (was there 2 weeks ago) there is a ban on fishing this lake. The water has been contaminated somehow and there are signs stating No Fishing, No Bathing, Do not drink the water, No dogs to swim etc so for the time being, I would avoid this venue.
Another popular lake is Lac de Guerledan. This large expanse of water covers an area of at least 16 km on the north side from Abbey Bon Repos to Mur-de-Bretagne along the N164. I have not fished it but have walked some way round and met several fisherman who take out boats and have caught some very large carp. There are a few areas to fish from the shore but I haven’t seen that many. It may be best to investigate first before going and make enquiries about hiring boats.
If you favour sea-fishing, I have been to several estuary venues and the best ones I recommend are Barre d’Etel where the River Etel joins the Atlantic. I have caught sea-bream, bass and plenty of eels!! Also caught a dorado some time ago there. Etel is south-east of Lorient taking the D194 and D9. I have fished off the point on the west side of the river taking a small right-hand track off the D9 towards the point before crossing the bridge. Another venue is at Pont St. Maurice on the River Laita just past Guidel, D162, west of Lorient. Here also there are sea-bream and eels galore. Parking by the side of the road and take a steep path down to the river.
Fishing Permits

Fishing permits can be bought for a day or a two week period for holiday-makers or for the year for permanent residents. This will cover the Morbihan region but there is an option to pay extra to cover other departments in France. Check when purchasing your permit. If you require permit to cover salmon fishing, this is also an additional charge.
The present costs are as follows but best to check when purchasing:
Adult Under 16’s Under 10’s DayFishingPermit 10 euros N/a N/a Two Week Permit 30 euros N/a N/a Annual Permit 64 euros 24 euros 1 euros

I bought my permit from Ardent Peche, ZI de Trehonin Le Sourn, Pontivy – tel: 0297 25 36 56 which is on the outskirts of Pontivy just off the main road to Baud/Lorient through the industrial zone. Unfortunately it is not sign-posted. They can also be purchased in most towns in bars and tabacs. Signs will often be posted in the shop windows or ask in the Mairie.
Bait – Maggots and worms can be purchased from some supermarkets – SuperU in Pontivy have a selection. Ardent Peche sell just about everything but boillies are expensive over here. I have used dog biscuits, sweetcorn, maggots and worm and used bread for float fishing. I use maize, hemp and some animal feeds for pre-baiting.
Happy fishing – Richard Dann
